Pleased to share that one of my early layered, colorful meditation drawings will be included in the 2022 Bemis Benefit exhibition and auction in Omaha, NE taking place October 14-28, 2022.

My drawing Untitled (layered meditation) was included in this Westbeth Gallery exhibition (September 2022) of work by artists who also happen to work at the Whitney Museum.
“Layers of Time” opens today at Upstream Gallery, and will remain on view through July 25. Three of my pieces are part of the show, including the drawing pictured here. The exhibition title feels particularly apt, not just to my work, but to the way we’ve been moving through the past year and a half… (What is time?!)
Hastings-on-Hudson is a quick train ride or drive out of the city if you’re in New York and looking for an excursion up the Hudson Valley. I took advantage of my drive up to drop off the artwork by hiking at Blauvelt State Park that afternoon as well; it was refreshing to be surrounded by so much green! Upstream Gallery is an artist-run space; I met a couple of the members and they were very friendly and welcoming.

My drawing Still is currently available as part of Collar Work’s online exhibition “Take It or Lose It” during its annual fundraiser (through July 17, 2021). All of the featured artworks are $500 and under and support both the exhibiting artists and the mission of Collar Works:
“Collar Works is a non-profit art space located at 621 River St. in Troy, NY dedicated to supporting emerging and underrepresented artists, working in any media, exhibiting challenging and culturally relevant contemporary artworks. Expanding the current art vernacular in New York’s capital region, Collar Works provides a venue for community dialogue focused on serious, provocative and spirited artworks.”
This drawing, finished in early 2020, is a predecessor of the colored pencil drawings I made this past winter. I enjoy the process of using line to create fields of color that fill a page; these pieces blur the lines between “painting thinking” (form and color relationships) and “drawing thinking” (line and mark-making) for me. Three of my meditation drawings which together reflect upon the phrase “open heart” are included in Darkest Before Dawn: Art in a Time of Uncertainty at Ethan Cohen KuBe, opening this Sunday.
