Art in the Garden, season 4

Today I went to my first garden workday of the year, and it made me excited for the upcoming Art in the Garden season beginning in just a couple weeks on April 26. For the first date, we’ll create our own stamps and explore other upcycled printmaking methods — creating multiples so we can swap with other neighbors. Check out the flyer and dates below for all details, if you’re in Brooklyn please stop by our community garden to participate!

Free Circling Workshop: How to Talk About Your Art

This year, speak confidently about your art and creative practice.

Join us for a free, two-part workshop filled with guided reflections, exercises, and tips on speaking and writing with clarity and specificity about your work presented in partnership with our friends at Paradice Palase.

Session one will cover speaking about your art in an audience-aware, multi-sensory, and grounded way as you prepare for studio visits, exhibition tours, or artist talks.

In session two, learn how to hone descriptions of your work for written purposes: communicate clearly and with a goal in mind as you draft grant applications, artist statements, and more.

Attend one session, or both — each can stand alone, and we will share the recording with all who subscribe after the workshop.

Art in the Garden 2025

We had a great third season of Art in the Garden at Patchen Community Square this season. I love sharing the space and the chance to make something together with my neighbors and all who stop by the garden during our sessions. I experimented with providing more specific projects / prompts for each week, and liked that approach. Here are some photos of what this year looked like — stay tuned for season four coming in 2026!

🍅 Art in the Garden is a series of free, all-ages, drop-in artmaking workshops created and hosted by garden member and artist Lynnette Therese Sauer at Patchen Community Square in Bed-Stuy, Brooklyn.

Recap: Art in the Garden 2024

It was a great second season of Art in the Garden at Patchen Community Square! Here are some photos from this year’s free, all-ages, drop-in artmaking workshops I facilitated at my neighborhood garden where I’ve been a member since 2018. I also collaborated with fellow garden member Nicole Haile to co-host a Kids Day and Postcard Rally for Palestine during two of this season’s Art in the Garden sessions.
